EcoLivelihood Creations recently joined a Krishi Vigyan Kendra programme to share a practical message with farmers: goat rearing can become a dependable rural enterprise when it is supported by scientific knowledge, careful planning and market awareness. Creating opportunity through scientific goat rearing For many small and marginal farming households, goats are more than livestock. They are an accessible source of livelihood, resilience and new enterprise possibilities. With the right support, goat rearing can contribute to regular income through breeding, healthy animal management, milk and value-added products, as well as organic manure. At the programme, the EcoLivelihood Creations team presented its Aao Seekhe Unnat Bakri Palan Vyavsay learning material, inviting farmers to explore improved goat-farming practices. The focus was on making the journey from traditional rearing to a more organised, informed and sustainable livelihood activity. Knowledge that supports better outcomes Successful goat farming depends on day-to-day decisions. Breed selection, clean housing, balanced feed, timely vaccination, deworming, access to veterinary advice and record keeping all influence animal health and farm performance.
